MyMedicare is a voluntary new system that allows you to officially register with your regular GP and practice — like us here at Her Medical. It simply formalises what you’re already doing: seeing your usual GP team who knows your history, your health needs, and how to best look after you.
You don’t have to register — but if you do, it may open up extra services, benefits, and support options over time.
By registering with Her Medical under MyMedicare:
Your GP can better coordinate your care.9
You may be eligible for longer telehealth consultations (important if you need regular reviews, mental health care, or have complex or chronic conditions).
If you hold a Commonwealth Concession Card or have children under 16, you may qualify for triple bulk billing incentives for certain longer telehealth consults.
Over time, MyMedicare will be linked to new Medicare funding models designed to strengthen regular, ongoing care.
You can register if:
You have a Medicare card or DVA Veteran Card.
You’ve attended Her Medical for at least 2 face-to-face visits in the past 2 years.
(If you live in a remote area, only 1 visit may be required).
No. MyMedicare is entirely voluntary. You’ll still have full access to Medicare-funded services whether you register or not.
There are 3 simple ways:
Log in to your Medicare Online Account (via myGov), or use the Express Plus Medicare app.
Select Her Medical as your preferred practice and GP.
Our clinic will receive your request and approve it.
Speak to our friendly reception team.
We can start the registration process for you.
You’ll then confirm your consent via your Medicare Online Account.
We can print a MyMedicare Registration Form for you to complete.
Once signed, we’ll process the registration on your behalf.
Yes — at any time. You aren’t locked in forever. If you register elsewhere in the future, your previous registration with us will automatically end.
No. MyMedicare simply tells Medicare who your regular GP is. It doesn’t store your clinical records. However, your nominated GP details may show on your My Health Record so other providers know who your main care team is.
We’re happy to help. If you’d like more information, speak to our team at reception or visit the Services Australia MyMedicare page.
